Café Pushkin

More than 50 years ago a legendary French songwriter Gilbert Bécaud had a performance in Moscow. When he returned to Paris he wrote a song “Natalie” and dedicated it to his Russian guide. The song reads: ‘We walk around Moscow, visit Red Square and you tell me things, learned about Lenin and the revolution, but I think, ‘I wish we were in Café Pushkin’. Looking at the snow outside the windows. We would drink hot chocolate and talk about something completely different … ‘. The song became really populair in France. At the 4th of June 1999 Café Pushkin was opened in a baroque gentlemen house at the Tverskoy Boulevard. At the big opening Gilbert Bécaud performed his world famous song ‘Natalie’. Although it was established in 1999, the legendary restaurant seems to have been there for decades and when you step inside it’s like stepping back in time. There are 3 different parts in the restaurant, each with its own fantastic decor and atmosphere. The Pharmacy Hall is a tribute to his previous incarnation with numerous original features and collectibles; the library and intimate fireplace invite guests to dine in grand style, under a beautifully decorated ceiling with the winged goddess of victory and the summer terrace looking over Moscow’s iconic golden domes.
